OnPoint Community Credit Union Protects Banking Transactions with Redundant Colocation and Connectivity

OnPoint Community Credit Union serves 30 branches in the greater Portland area. To improve flexibility, accessibility and cost savings, the credit union opted to consolidate its colocation and cage space with a single infrastructure provider. As an existing Flexential colocation customer, OnPoint trusted the level of service and security the hybrid IT provider delivered.

With 40 enterprise-grade data centers and redundant power, cooling and connectivity, Flexential helped OnPoint achieve the ongoing availability it demanded. Leveraging Flexential’s robust network backbone and a secondary Flexential facility for off-site redundancy, OnPoint enhanced its resilience to better support its operations and customers’ accessibility. This redundancy enabled OnPoint to shorten its recovery time and recovery point objectives from six to eight hours to eight minutes, allowing the credit union to recover more transactions, more quickly.

Flexential also lent a high level of security and scalability to OnPoint.

“Being in a facility, being with people who understand the dynamic nature of that connectivity – the ability to turn up services when we need them, turn them down when we don’t – is absolutely critical to our business,” said Zac Streelman, senior manager of information technology at OnPoint. “We have to be with a partner that understands that.”
